Last month we went to charming Lyon. It’s like a small Paris, just 1h30 by car from Geneva. All the way to Lyon you have beautiful views of mountains and viaducts.
We were there for a weekend, I think it’s not enough because you have plenty things to see and visit.
You can do shopping, you can try gastronomic restaurants, and you can make a boat trip and much more.
We took hotel Mercure in the city centre, very nice location! Our room had a view on the river. Shops are 2 minutes from the hotel and river is just a cross the road. I liked this hotel; it was full renovated in 2015, so the rooms look good.
Next to our hotel there was a nice steakhouse Le centre by Georges Blanc, where we had our diner. It was delicious!!! I really recommend you to try this place. Aftrewords we went for a drink not far away from the hotel. In Lyon you should try “Bouchon Lyonnais, it is type of restaurant which was created in Lyon. They serving traditional Lyonnaise cuisine, such as roasted pork, sausage, marinated cabbage and etc. In my opinion this food a little bit heavy and fatty, but a lot of people like it.
We did city tour with a small tram (9 euro per person), which going to Croix-Rousse. Duration of the trip is 1hour, very nice and comfortable tram with panoramic roof. We saw beautiful painted walls like “Fresque Végétale Lumière”, the mur des Canuts” (I loved it it’s amazing) and the glorious “Fresque des Lyonnais”. During the tour you have audio guide in 2 languages (French, English and Spanish).
Also we tried a boat trip for 1hour along the river. After boat trip we understood that we still have a lot of things to see in Lyon. We will keep it for the next time.
Lyon is always good idea 🙂
