If you would like to go to Mexico just for an evening, I recommend you this place, very charming and cosy Mexican restaurant in Geneva.
El Catrin is located in Paquis area, not far away from the train station and the lake. It is really a lovely place (I recommend you to reserve the table because its crowded), they are serving simple but delicious Mexican street food. I tasted different dishes, for example guacamole (10 CHF) with homemade corn chips, or exotic guacamole with mango YUMMY! Also quesadilla (from 6 CHF), it is delicious!!! I went for tacos with chicken and beef as well. They have vegetarian and also gluten free dishes. And of course I took a dessert 🙂 I chose cajeta (goat milk) pancake, with ice cream.
We can see that everything is homemade. They have three different homemade spicy sauces which accompany your dishes. I’m not a real fan of tequila and tequila based cocktails but their Margaritas (17 CHF) are the best in town and I love it! We tasted classic, strawberry and passion fruit margaritas (my favorite one is strawberry). Additionally there is mexicain wine which is pretty good.
It’s a perfect spot if you go for a drink with your friends and you don’t want to eat just one dish but you want different things. At this bar you can order several plates and share it. The waiters are very kind and friendly, the service is fast! It is a great place to have an after work drink in Geneva or to start your Friday or Saturday night. They also take group reservations for parties.
